SECURE AND STABLE UNDERGROUND NETWORK

Representatives of Netcity Telecom SRL today announced that the latest technologies for the construction of metropolitan fiber optic networks Netcity have proven their stability, safety and efficiency throughout the year, and only 60 have been registered in Bucharest. The number of incidents in the 46 streets of the capital that affected in the short term the services provided by the operators to the final customers.

In fact, out of a total of 60 incidents, 23 were due to municipal modernization works in the capital, which required the relocation of the infrastructure segments that existed in each region. Other causes of events recorded this year include the work of some utility providers, tree planting, relocation of asphalt or concrete, and vandalism.

However, the average response time is fast, and if large-scale civil works are required, temporary solutions have been provided to the operator to restore the service provided to the end customer in the shortest possible time.

"The modernity and stability of the Netcity network, its concern for the environment and people has become a concrete reality through the standards for the construction of mini-trenches, it has been adopted and promoted as a recommended solution at European level and international, and is a minimally invasive and high standard Netcity Network. Not only is it a legal alternative to aerial cables installed on poles without permission, but it is also an infrastructure that contributes to the modernization of capital in terms of technical infrastructure and public services.

Compared to an estimated 250,000 connected households, Netcity averages 0.3 incidents per year, well below the level reported by the European Council as the industry standard. In the case of the Netherlands, which is the benchmark for technological advances, according to a European report, the number of incidents in telecommunications networks caused by public works is 5.5 per 1,000 homes per year.

To comply with the latest industry practices, Netcity uses the mini-trench standard, which is widely used in Europe and is an international reference standard recommended by ASRO, UN-International Telecommunication Union, European Commission, or FTTH Council. This mini-trench was first adopted by Netcity in Romania and certified by the national standardization authority, and was certified as a viable alternative to the old standards of previous decades, suitable for existing telecommunication networks but not optimized for modern development requirements.

The Netcity network is built with 100% private financing and is available to all operators, allowing the overhead network to be relocated underground. The infrastructure already covers the main boulevards and tourist areas of the capital, and the works continue, mainly in secondary streets.
